5 Rules For Buying Gold and Silver Online

If you're just getting started investing in gold or silver, buying gold and silver on the internet is one of the most convenient methods for getting started in precious metals investing. However, a certain degree of homework is required on your part. In the next few paragraphs, we'll investigate 3 Rules when buying gold and silver online.

Rule 1 - Verify the Credibility the Dealer
The first thing you should do is look into the credibility and longevity of the dealer you are considering using. This must come first, prior to the best price or whatever else. For if your order never makes it to you, little else matters. Something I'd recommend doing is performing a Google or Yahoo search for the dealer you are considering. This can be easily accomplished on places like E-bay who actually rate the dealers. You may also want to consider contacting the local Better Business Bureau and seeing if there have been any complaints filed recently.

Rule 2 - Find The Best Offer Price You Can
One of the conveniences of purchasing gold and silver online is the pace that you can verify the price of gold and silver versus the offer price of online stores. While looking to find the best offer price, make sure to question any offer that seems too good to be real.

Rule 3 - Figure Out The Dealer's Order Process
A successful acquisition of gold and silver involves a secure and well thought out transaction. So, before you buy gold and silver online, find out the dealer's process. Some of the things you want to ask the dealer upfront is: the way they process orders, their bank's routing numbner, shipping costs, if the order has delivery insurance, how to track your order, when you expect your order and who to call when there is an issue with your order. I'd also ask the dealer their process for selling gold or silver, should you decide you want to sell part your gold or silver.

Rule 4 - Join an Online Forum

Something I'd highly recommend is joining one of the online gold forums such as the ones available at kitco or gold-eagle.com. You can post questions you may have to the forums. Many of the people on the forums have done business with most of the online dealers and give good or bad reviews on working with them.

Rule 5 - Keep a Copy of Your Online Receipts
If you're buying gold online, be sure to maintain a copy of your receipt in case you need to refer back to it. I would recommend saving a copy for at least 3 years or longer in case you need to use them for taxes or other reasons.
